I add an equal weight of water and flour to the starter to refresh it. Never adding more than 30% of the original starter volume.

My GRS was given to me by my elderly uncle in 1995. He had received it years before from an old timer who had received it from and old Alaskan from the gold rush days. It has a wonderfully distinctive flavor and is very strong and bubbly.
